What is “No Porn November?”
The purpose of #NoPornovember is to change the conversation on the topic of porn around the world. It’s time to take a stand and speak out. Are you in?
Decades of studies from respected academic institutions have demonstrated real, tangible negative effects of porn consumption on individuals, relationships, and society.
Porn fuels sex trafficking, ignores consent, promotes sexual violence, encourages coercion, advertises objectification, sells exploitation, perpetuates racism, and normalizes abuse.
No Porn November is all about giving visibility to these facts and empowering individuals to choose to be porn-free.
How did No Porn November start?
Fight the New Drug exists to provide individuals the opportunity to make an informed decision on porn by raising awareness on its harmful effects using only science, facts, and personal accounts. Fight the New Drug is both non-religious and non-legislative as well as sex-positive, freedom-preserving, education-focused, and anti-shaming.
Even though we share educational resources daily that raise awareness on porn’s negative impacts, there is one month every year when we take extra steps to invite all of our global supporters to participate in an enhanced educational campaign called No Porn November, or #NoPornovember.
Five years after Fight the New Drug was founded in 2009, we started No Porn November as a way to encourage others to get involved with changing the conversation around porn. Since 2014, No Porn November, or #NoPornovember, has been one of our biggest awareness-raising campaigns during the whole year.
Who is No Porn November for?
If you’re looking to try giving up porn, want to get educated on the harmful effects of porn, or looking to educate others, No Porn November is for you!
Take the No Porn November challenge if you want to stop watching porn and see if you can go 30 days without it. The challenge kicks off on November 1 and lasts throughout the month. At the end, see how you did and consider turning your #NoPornovember challenge into a #NoPornEver challenge!
To educate yourself or others, check out our informational resources that are free to access, like our three-part documentary series, conversation guide, or Spanish-translated website.
What events happen during No Porn November?
A number of fun events happen during #NoPornovember, and no matter where you are, you can participate in them!
For the first big event, we’re hosting our annual Brain, Heart, World virtual streaming day this year on Saturday, November 12th! Brain, Heart, World is our three-part documentary series that has impactful, age-appropriate information about how pornography can negatively affect those who watch it, their relationships, and our society.
You can join our supporters, called “Fighters,” from across the globe by streaming Brain, Heart, World from the comfort of your own home on the 12th. By participating, you’re joining a global community of Fighters and taking the time to get educated on this important issue. Click here to join by creating an account and stream the series for free.
And the next week, on Friday, November 18th, our millions of global supporters are invited to participate in #RepTheMovement Day by wearing one of our conversation-starting tees, or a tee from another organization whose message resonates with you, to educate others on the harms of pornography and sexual exploitation.
Each #NoPornovember, we release new Fighter gear to commemorate the month and get people ready for #RepTheMovement Day. Each tee we produce serves to remind our Fighters that they deserve better than porn.
How else can you get involved in No Porn November?
Fight the New Drug is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, which means that our supporters are the ones who make it possible for us to create awareness-raising resources and hope-giving content.
If you’d like to be involved in #NoPornovember, but you’re not sure how consider making a recurring or one-time tax-deductible donation to our organization so we can continue to raise awareness on the harmful effects of porn. Visit FTND.org/donate for more information.
Whether or not you donate, please share our educational resources in your communities and make this movement for love famous wherever you are. The ultimate purpose of No Porn November is to saturate social media and our communities, spreading the facts on the harms of pornography and being a strong voice for real love on social media.
The content we release during #NoPornovember is meant to be shared, reposted, and talked about. We want to help our Fighters change the conversation surrounding pornography by providing them with factual resources to spark a discussion, no matter where they are in the world.
We couldn’t do this without our amazing supporters, and we are grateful for another year to fight for love and raise awareness on the harmful effects of porn.
